Counter Strike 2: Missing Features
Counter Strike 2 has been launched and has quickly gained immense popularity, with almost 1.2 million concurrent players joining the game after its highly-anticipated release. However, despite the overwhelming number of players trying it out, a portion of the community is expressing disappointment over the absence of certain features, maps, and game modes.
“Now I’ve had some time to think about it, and this release of CS2 was rather disappointing,” writes Anomaly, a popular Counter Strike influencer and content creator, on Twitter. Anomaly proceeds to list several missing features from the game, including War Games, various maps, and brand new content. Although the game itself looks stunning and includes several quality of life improvements, the absence of these features has left a void that is being felt by the disappointed players.
A similar sentiment can be found on Reddit, where users like Cosmictrigger01 have shared a parallel list of missing features. The comments section is filled with a back-and-forth between those who are unhappy with the game’s launch and others who do not view it as disastrous.
“I don’t disagree, but in the last 12 hours, I’ve heard more people discussing the alternate game modes and Mac support than in the entire last decade,” writes Ganja_fiend. “I’m sorry, but it’s hard to believe that so many people truly cared about demolition and flying scoutsman. Arms race, on the other hand, should be essential and is a staple of CS.” Ganja_fiend’s opinion reflects a shared sentiment among players who miss certain game modes and features.
This frustration is also evident in another popular post on Reddit titled “There’s no way you guys actually care about Danger Zone,” which highlights the discontent among players.
It was inevitable that such community strife would arise when Counter Strike 2 replaced CS:GO in players’ Steam Libraries. Although it is still possible to revert to the old version by accessing the game’s properties, the player base has significantly diminished, and the game now relies heavily on community servers. As a result, the game is unlikely to regain its former status as a powerhouse. For the average player, CS:GO and all its modes and features, regardless of how niche, have essentially disappeared.
It remains to be seen whether players will eventually move on from these grievances or if they will continue to hold onto the older version of CS. The CS2 community is still in its early stages, and the future of the game itself is uncertain. Hopefully, the developers will reintroduce the missing features to appease those who are feeling dissatisfied.
